Aloha Winstigators,

I’m not sure how it happened but I’ve made it this far in my life without ever having played a game of Uno. Somehow between summers spent working as a camp counselor and countless all-night hangouts in college dorms, I’ve just never had an interest in playing that card game with colors, numbers and arrows.

And yet, we have a box of Uno cards here at Winchester Wire Headquarters. Since we have a son who’s about to turn four, things just randomly show up at our house and we have no idea how they got here. I think at one point my wife believed the Uno cards would be a good way to teach him colors and numbers with no real intention to play the actual game.

But that changed earlier this week when he found the box of cards he hadn’t touched in months and she decided to see if she could teach him (and me!) how to play. And now I’ve spent a good portion of my morning shirking responsibilities by playing Uno online and watching YouTube videos on Uno strategy because I might have a small competitive streak.

I can’t say that I’ve learned enough to understand all the various house rules that people play the game with, but I’m almost ready to suggest the first ever Winchester Wire meetup over a game of Uno at a reputable establishment in town.
