Winchester Wire #018: Silverada comes to town, Virginia Beer Day and more.

Hey Winstigators!
Thursday, August 14th marks the inaugural Virginia Beer Day!
Founded by Norfolk-based Craft Beer Professionals, the event aims to boost foot traffic on slower brewery days (like Thursdays) while giving beer lovers a midweek reason to visit their favorite spots.
Participating breweries across Virginia will offer a special pint glass with $1 from each sale going toward scholarships for the 2025 Virginia Brewers Conference—an event focused on education, networking, and industry growth.
In the Winchester area, Dividing Creek Beer Company and Chilly Hollow will be joining in. For an afternoon mini-beer crawl/tour, start Lost Barrel in Middleburg, head to Chilly Hollow in Berryville, then head down to the Walking Mall for Dividing Creek!
Silverada comes to Winchester!
I’ve been writing a lot about music lately, but with so much good stuff out there, I can’t help it.
One band worth your time is Silverada. Formerly known as Mike and the Moonpies, this Austin, Texas group has been serving up excellent neo-traditional country and Americana music since 2007. They’ve earned their reputation the hard way—playing over 150 shows a year in honky-tonks and dance halls across the country and building a loyal fanbase on the strength of live performances, not just album hype.
Rolling Stone has praised them for years, putting albums like Steak Night at the Prairie Rose (2018) and One to Grow On (2021) on “Best Of” lists. They’ve also earned acclaim from Saving Country Music, Americana Highways, Holler, Iowa Source, and have even graced the Grand Ole Opry stage.
I caught them last month at The Anthem in DC, and the “greatest live country band on the planet” hype is justified; the stage presence, energy, and musicianship were all on display and undeniable.
Now they’re bringing that energy to The Bright Box Theater this Saturday in Winchester. Tickets are still available so dust off your boots and get ready to scoot!
Adopt-a-pet!
Check out chill guy Tahini, ready-to-go Dakota, sharp dude Bo, and inquisitive Rosie.
