I linked to it below and included the flyer, but The Ain’t Sisters are coming to Bright Box Theater on Friday night and this one looks like it could be a sneaky fun show. They’re a Georgia band that gets called folk rock but that seems to undersell it a bit. It’s harmonies, guitars and mandolin, socially conscious lyrics, oddball humor and rock and roll energy.

What makes them interesting is that they don’t seem like a band trying to politely fit into one lane. Their songs can be sweet, angry, funny, dark, hopeful and completely ridiculous all in the same set (and on the same album). Live, they apparently build the set like a theme park ride; peaks, valleys, singalongs, weird turns and a room full of people who seem to know they’re in on something. That’s usually a pretty good sign that the show won’t be boring.
